  1. I'm off to buy a food scale, and a lunch box and one of those blue thingies
you can freeze to keep your food cold.

Seems I really do need to bring something to work to eat. I'm not doing so
well with such a long gap between meals, because the hunger when I get home
is stronger than my will. Trying to make my will stronger (butching up)
isn't working, and I'd rather admit I'm weak and try something else rather
than keep eating so damn much at night.

I have only 3 flaws. My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws.

I'm happy with my Escali digital scale. Make sure whatever you get
has (1) gram and oz units, and (2) a tare function.

  3. I don't think it is weak to have to eat more often than every 9 hours, your
body is telling you it needs nutrition.

smaller meals can work well for you. I do between 3 and 5 300 kcal meals per
    day right now.

I think I agree with MU on the notion that hunger signals don't mean what we
    think they mean.

I don't like using the term "weak" to describe not wanting to go long
periods without eating. I think one can train to do it.

Personally, I find frequent meals help my blood sugar control. Long time
between meals invariably cause me to overeat. Oh, and I can't ever agree
    with MU. ;-)

For me, it all in my head. If I'm determined to lose weight, I have no
problems. I can even eat a carby am meal and then not eat the rest of the
day. OTOH, if I'm not trying to lose, then it's [censored] nilly time. Gawd
help me if I actually decided to try to gain weight!

That is hard to do, I admit 🙂

what does it mean then? I read it somewhere that it can be caused by thirst. I
have also read it elsewhere that the feeling of emptiness - as in
psychologically - tends to make people overeat. but other than those reasons,
    what else?

I don't understand why our meal timetable should be dictated by the way a
spherical lump of minerals and rocks - aka Planet Earth - spins itself.

(Hey you, Earth, stop spinning! I have eaten a large meal and I want it to be
fully digested before the sun rises. Just sit and wait, OK? When I say the sun
can rise then you can start spinning again. You heard me?)

  9. I commend your plan.

Cheap kitchen scales can be found on eBay. Sometimes they call them postal
    scales.

Rather than spend money on the blue thingies, one can put a folded washcloth
in a ziplock bag and soak it with water. Pop it into the freezer.

They are expensive, but the Laughing Cow cheeses come in convenient sealed
pods that can be carried in a pocket or purse.

I try and reflect when I start feeling hungry, to figure out if it is

eating is trying to creep in. Quite often, it is. so I substitute
something healthy to do instead of eating.

  11. those blue ice packs...nice when new, but if they leak, stink up your food
and cooler. 1/2 of mine had to be thrown out. I now have an electric cooler
( but I work out of my car, so its worth it)

I can't say for sure what it means....but I don't think it always means
thirst....I think for one thing that your body is simply used to food...and
when it doesn't come it reacts..but that surely doesn't mean you are in need
any nutrition. I have overeaten meals before only to find myself hungry

habit. A large belly that needs extra food to stay that way...why does a
body need food when it's carrying around a large supply of extra energy?

That's a good point. Some situations can make me eat too much. I do weekly
shopping at supermarkets and often ended up buying too much food, and because I
don't want to waste them, I tried to eat them all before they go bad. This year
I'm trying to let my hoard of food in the fridge runs down a little bit. The
fridge can go empty and I'm not going to be fretting over it. I still hoard
tins of tuna fish in my cupboard but I don't hoard instant noodles anymore.

I think it's because the bits of carbs add up. I once had a big salad made of
celery, cucumber, olives, tomatoes, meat (can't remember what). I dozed off
right after the meal. Large meals followed by long periods without any food
don't work for me. I don't think I can live like MU!

yes, why doesn't the body know what it should do and adjust what we feel
    accordingly?
