  1. Seems as though Ofoto didn't like Decanio speaking out against doping.
He's been fired before he even got a chance to race for them this year.

He keeps talking about saving the kids, like some tsunami relief number.
What if he followed his own advice and started at home?

since Kadis is the paid PR guy for the team how is he the heavy. It
isn't like he is offering his own opinion on the situation. He is
presenting the team position ( ie the team basically tells him what to
    go out and say).

Okay, so I agree that Kadis has nothing to do with this. However, like
Scott McClellan, the messenger represents the message.

I can't blame Ofoto for their actions, either.

  11. Lots more to this one than meets the eye with the headlines. Go to
Decanio's websites referenced in the veloNews article and read them in
detail. They're a little bit scary. I'm dead set against doping of any
kind and a staunch protector of youth, but he approaches these from a
very odd perspective. Conspiracy theories abound and involve everyone
from his employer (who won't give him hours at his non-cycling stockboy
job )to his parents (who won't support their 27 year old son)to the
sponsors who have dropped them to any cyclist who has won and not been
proven positive (notably LA). Although uncovering and stopping doping
in cycling is a noble cause, he approaches it with a fringe vehemence
and paramilitary paradigm which are totally out of place. He has a
"secret underground" with "commanders and spies" and a distant uncle
who is a four star general who is going to get the federal government
behind him. Although I only have a moderate background in psychology
and psychiatry, there are enough delusions of grandeur and paranoia in
these websites to raise questions about his stability. I can't blame
the sponsors for dropping him. Plus, let's not forget, he admits to
using Epo - detailed discussion of this is not present on the websites.
YMMV, but do read his websites to draw your own conclusions - whether
or not you agree with me, they're interesting. Also, to Richard Sachs,
my sincere respect for all you've done for the sport (and I'm also a
fellow watch guy and probable future customer) - sorry to disagree with
your letter to VeloNews - I think Decanio's stuff goes far beyond a
    rational anti-doping stance.

no worries. my opinion is shaped from what i consider day one: the story
that first appeared on issendorf's site a year (?) or more ago. reading from
that point forward (which preceeds the SU site by quite some months) i
get a different read than you do. otoh, i tried to be concise in my VN note
by saying that his communicative skills are not what i'd always agree with,
but the underlying message, the one that began on charlie's site, still
    speaks
to me. now - just so i know, when did you come in to this?

The point in your VeloNes note was well taken. Omerta must end.

  14. Decanio does not accept constructive criticism of his methods. You're
either with him or against him. In his world, he dictates the best
solution for fighting the problem. Problem is that he is not empowered
to dictate much of anything, so his approach is flawed.

Matt needs to find a way to let go of his anger and recognize that not
only was he fallable, but others are as well. Being ashamed of oneself
is not the only path to redemption, and the others need to find their
own path. Decanio can't be everyone's conscience.

For the most part I agree. His website
<http://www.mattdecanio.com/journal> gives the impression of someone
laboring under a martyr complex, who's excessively self-absorbed. What
if he had moderated his stance and conformed to Ofoto's guidelines?
He'd still have the website--granted, in a form he considered
compromised or diluted--AND a another forum, the pro-peleton, to
    further his ends.

Wailing relentlessly from the mountain tops is rarely the most
convincing approach in getting your point across: racing and succeeding
cleanly would have transmitted Matt's message more effectively than any
other method. It's a pity he's largely denied himself that option.

  16. After reading the article and his latest blogs I was wondering if
anyone is laying odds on when he'll commit suicide?

oatmeal from the dumpster and fantasy about getting rollers for
    valentines day???? valentines day? wtf

maxed out credit to buy SU gear... dude, what were you thinking?

Maybe if you ask Crit Pro for help? I heard he makes a lot of cash by
harrassing guys who beat him for primes...

    it's
    1-800-Get-Help Matt.

Maybe you could write a book and sell it on the SU website?
