It sounds as if your wire is broken!
Er, never mind.
One practical method is to find (or buy) a duplicate and see
whether the new computer can detect the suspect transmitter
and whether the new transmitter can send to the suspect
computer.
That the computer itself holds time is not much of a test of
its receiving ability, particularly when it fails to notice
two different transmitters.
But you could have two bad transmitters.
Hell, you could have two bad transmitters and a bad
computer. There are days like that.
(I have a client with a flaky printer, an erratic serial
card, a cable that's too long, and a suspect port server on
a unix system that doesn't really have enough ram to run
properly. Printouts are amusing.)
You could try emailing Supergo support and asking if they
have any clever test trick to see if either transmitter is
emitting anything. They may just tell you to mail it to
them--testing is much easier with known good spare parts.
It would be nice if someone fond of wireless stuff could
suggest a simple test for checking most transmitters, such
as a buzzing in a tooth filling or a bit of static on a cell
phone held next to the transmitter.
