if it is a cassete remove it in the normal way (chainwhip and lockring
remover), if it is a hub with a screw-on freewheel get better friends

Try lacing up the non-drive side with some old spokes and see if it will
hold up enough to get the cassette off. Otherwise you're pretty stuck.

Try lacing up the non-drive side with some old spokes and see if it will
hold up enough to get the cassette off. Otherwise you're pretty stuck.

Depends whether it is a cassette or freewheel.

Casette is easy, just use a chain whip and the appropriate lock ring
remover.

Freewheel is a bit harder. A bench vice could be useful to clamp teh hub
flanges, or get some old spokes and wire the hub flange to a bit of 2x1 or a
pipe.

Doorframe with a pair of very solid door chain attachments. Two loops
of Kevlar kiteline, threaded through opposing spoke holes. Chain whip
on the freewheel. Apply torque and let the hub twist to pull the
"spokes" tight.

Chances are you twist the spidle of the hub shell.

At least it did when I tried it an an old normandy hub years ago.
