Just got an email from Kryptonite/UPS with a packaging slip to send in
my cylinder locks for new, Bic-resistant ones. I signed up a day or two
after the story broke so it took a while, but it looks like they're
going to come through.

They fixed it for now. Till some crook will study long
enough to crack it. Your save till near future. How long no one knows.
But good luck.

Good to hear they're still getting them out... I was beginning to wonder if
I'd ever get mine...

I signed up at the same time and received my lock over a month ago. They
must have had limited supplies of the new style. The new lock and key are
pretty funky, hopefully they will stay secure for awhile.

nee "funky"! highly proprietary - high tech stuff ;-) that's what
they would probably want you to believe, anyway. and I haven't seen the
new design but perhaps true to some degree.

Made them work with Paper-Mate instead.
OK, not funny but I couldn't resist.

Got my NY Chain disc lock replaced a month ago.
My old lock looked like the lock from hell after being dragged on the on
road from hanging off the bike rack. No problem they sent me a new
bic-proof version anyway.

Regular key, not a cylinder.

that's funny because I bought a lock just like that from Master in
December '92 and I still use it. one of the main upsides was it was 5
or 10 bux cheaper but otherwise the same. if only Kryptonite had that
type in the first place, no probs I figure.

The new key isn't a cylinder, but from what I've seen it isn't a "regular"
key either - looks to be a rectangular stick with notches on the end:
