  1. I now have all the parts I need to turn my old touring bike into a fixed.
    Hurrah!

    /Except/ the wheels. Bah!

    Come on, Deeside...

Just find a world that's into that kind of thing, then chain to the floor
and walk up and down on it in high heels. (Mr. Sunshine)

What we want to know, is saddle or no saddle?

I now have the wheels too. Hurrah!

And, short of making a special journey over the weekend, no way to get them
    home until Tuesday. Bah!

  5. So after a Several of evenings fannying around with Spanners trying to get
the bearings in the rear wheel to be Just So (having swapped out the
original axle for a q/r one) I finally got to ride it this morning. It may
be that commuting into central London Town Devine is not the most sensible
way to start riding a fixie, especially not in conjunction with clipless
pedals, but the only prombles encountered were the usual, viz. clue-free car
drivers and the Servants of Stan at the helm of bendy-buses. Hurrah!

All in all, a curiously satisfying experience.
