  1. I have been given an Innova 8 qt "low pressure" cooker.

The recipe book with it is limited and since I am unfamiliar with this
technique, I am wondering if anyone familiar with these pots has
advice on how to convert high pressure or regular recipes to cook
    successfully without trial and error.

I did make a quick chile con carne in less than half an hour the other
day & was quite pleased, but I had the timing frame based on the
cookbook. I will run through these recipes very fast.

My rule of thumb was to only use the pressure cooker for things that require
long cooking or it isn't worth the trouble and to convert the cooking time
by a factor of 3. So simmer for 1 1/2 hours at normal pressure would be
pressure cook for 1/2 an hour. I am not sure if all domestic pressure
cookers cook at the same pressure, if they don't this rule could alter quite
    a bit.
