I used to be one of the Nutro reps at the pet food store, a few years ago.
It IS good food for them. Very good. Nutro doesn't advertise like Iams and
Science Diet, and others, do. They rely more on word of mouth advertising.
And those in-store reps. Their ad dollars go instead to using more
expensive ingredients.

What formula are your babies on, Michael?

Mandy never cared much for dry food. I tried all of them, starting with
Friskies and Meow Mix...she wouldn't touch the stuff. I got her to eat Iams
for awhile, but that didn't last long, they must have changed the formula,
because I brought a new bag home, she sniffed the food, and walked away,
tail dragging, and she never touched the stuff again, I donated it to a
nearby cat shelter. I finally brought home a few sample bags (1 serving
size) of Max Cat. Lemmetellya....she sniffed out the bags of food from the
bag I carried it home in. I found her pawing at it! She loves it.

Mandy has been on Nutro dry foods for...maybe 6-7 years now. She had been
eating Max Cat for a couple years when I started working for them in 2001.
It was a sweet deal, whenever our field mgr had meetings with us, she'd
bring bags of food for our babies. She had a list...every employee's pet's
name and what he/she ate, and she would put their names on the bags! We'd
go out to the car and there were bags of food with our pet's names on them.
It was sort of cute. Actually, it was smart, it appealed to us on an
emotional level and was a great incentive to get us to show up for meetings!

Anyway, Mandy loves their stuff! She used to knock the bag over and eat it
from the bag, I'd catch her with just her tail sticking out of the bag!!!!
I switched her over to the Natural Choice Complete Care Weight Management
when it came out and she has never looked better. Her coat is shiny,
eye-gunk is gone, she's maintained her svelte, girlish figure and is a lean
8 lbs or so...and she hardly ever throws up anymore! (and the litter box
isn't as stinky as it was on Iams and other cheaper foods)

This past year (maybe 4 months ago now) I've put her on Natural Choice
Complete Care for Senior Indoor Cats. She's at least 9 years old, maybe 10.
(She was an adult when I got her, but that's all we know.)

She no longer climbs into the bag, but I keep the bowl full at all times.
She gets a couple spoonfuls of canned food a day, and all the dry she wants,
plus plenty of water and she seems to be a happy cat. Ok, she gets to taste
some of mommy's food, too. But how can I resist those gorgeous eyes???? :-)

~food, I think it is called adult, not sure what the canned is called.
I am
~not positive what I buy all the time. My bad. It is what the vet
gave me.

Maisie likes the SD Natural stuff. I can't give it to her in the
winter, because when she sees the vet in March she's always too fat
and told to go on a diet. So during the winter, she gets the SD
senior lite and femalt to lick off my fingers (hates it on her fur).
That way, in march Dr Byrd doesn't give us a lecture about fat cats
etc.

I'll look in on the Nutro next time we're at PetSmart. We used to do
petco until I realized that even with the buy10/get 1 free, it was
more expensive. And Petsmart has two of the local shelter's
adoptables in house, which we love.

Whatever the adult stuff is. I don't remember the name of it exactly. Hoot
has thrived on it. Her coat is gorgeous.

Pink bag is Natural Choice Adult.

Orangey-tan color is Max Cat Adult.

Either is good stuff.

Supposedly they "renamed" Maxx Cat Adult "roasted chicken" or some such
schlop. I can't buy the old Maxx cat Adult here (Portland, OR) and
the "new, improved", the cats won't eat.
