  1. Hello!

Haven't visited this group in quite some time (have been producing kids
wholesale), but it seemed like the best place to ask my question.

I'm looking for a type of 2 cup stove top espresso machine; I saw one
at a house I visited, but was talking too much and forgot to ask about
it. It was red coloured at the bottom and had two really cute curved
brass coloured pipes coming out of the top. Two small cups sit under
these pipes to catch the coffee as it's made. I found a similar thing
online, but it was rather ugly; like a silver metal chimney with a
couple of arm type things sticking out at right angles at the top - a
    little grim and functional.

Anyway, there's a very good chance I may be going to Italy quite soon
but, sadly, won't have much time for browsing in shops. Can anyone
*please* tell me what these particular espresso machines are called in
Italian, if they have a special name, or point me in the direction of a
www where I might be able to find one to buy?

    Many thanks.

These are known collectively as moka pots. There are all kinds, shapes, and
sizes. I even have an old electric one. The last time I saw one of the two
pipe types was at a sporting goods store. It wasn't too elegant, just
functional for the backpack crowd. Google around for moka pot or look on
    ebay.

Great people there and I love the group. They are very helpful and
    treat a newbie with respect.

    Good luck.

You can buy them at any Italian shop here in Canada or proably the US.
They have been around for years.

If a purchase in Italy is your preference, cool, just go to any shop
small or large. They are everyhere. You may take a moment to look up
the word for "machine" in an Italian online dictionary, but any travel
agency, or tourist office in Italy will know what to ask for and where
to find it - perhaps even - or likely so will the flight staff, or boat
staff in you are going by boat!!

The one I have came from Cost Plus many years ago. What I
really love, though, is the (separate) stove top milk
    steamer.
