I have a chromoly frame to which I want to install side pull brakes. There are no bosses on the seat stays. I want to put these on.
How difficult is this to do? A good source for the bosses?
It sounds like brazing is a better idea than arc welding so that the frame and boss integrity remains. I've never done that before, but am pretty mechanical. Any starters?

Thanks,
Find a framebuilder that knows what they are doing. Not some Bubba at the farm implement repair in Buttcrack AR.
That's not an option as this is a low budget project and also an opportunity for me to learn how to do it. Aesthetics aren't important, and I don't think safety is as critical since a failure most likely wouldn't result in something catastrophic.

Brake failure is about as catastrophic as it gets. And aesthetics aren't the only issue. If you don't have the right jigs to get the bosses lined up properly, the brakes aren't going to work at all. If you really want to learn, find a frame builder who's cool enough to let you hang out in the shop and watch.
