Does anybody else have problems getting signals from their Polar Wearlink. I keep it clean, wet it prior to use and keep the band tight, but I have a lot of trouble getting it to start and keep going whilst early on in a ride. I have nearly given up taking my resting heart rate as it is too hard to get it going. It will work when I'm standing and stops as soon as I lie down.
I had less drama with my old style band.
The other thing about it that anoys me is that it is next to useless when it is windy or I'm riding down hill. The strap picks up the rate at which my cycle top flaps at.
I remember asking the Polar people what the difference was between the (old) T31-coded and T61 belts. Apparently the T61 has some extra shielding or something to be less sensitive to the "jersey in the wind" thing. (On that note, I sometimes still got it with my old T61 belt, making sure the belt and the skin it's touching are very moist helps a lot)
The Wearlink is a "31" type I think, which I guess means it doesn't have this shielding?
That being said, I recently got a Wearlink belt with my new S625X, and find it little different than my old T61 belt, even in descents etc.
The wearlink transmitter that came with my S725 ws also erratic, worked perfectly for the first 3 rides, then would drop to zero heart beat during subsequent rides.
Polar agents in South Africa swapped it out for me, and I have had no major transmission problems since.
HOWEVER: The wearlink transmitter IS QUITE sensitive to jersey rub (especially good quality wicking). I have stretched a piece of inner tube over the transmitter (much like I did on my old T61) , cut to shape for the clips of the belt to fit, and have not had ANY problems with the belt and transmitter subsequently (even in 45kph Cape Town South Easters)
