    The insurance folk have gone and damned well written it off, for some
    mysterious reason that we and the mechanic can't fathom. We're losing quite
    a bit on it because of this now. Oh well, car shopping again, with about
    £4,900 to spend.

    Yes, if we would like, but the car would be logged as an ex-write off, and
    become very difficult to sell on without a big loss, if we did.
