  1. Hi all
I was thinking of joining Curves. Has anyone tried it and what do you think

Thanks for your input in advance.

I went there for a year. I think it's a good thing for beginners. Kind of
"exercise for dummies." I'm only up to "exercise for slightly more
experienced dummies" at the YMCA now. ;o)

I have only 3 flaws. My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws.

  3. I notice that on the commercial everyone is smiling and having a good
    time. (Any huffing and puffing
anyone?) I'm just kidding. I'm sure it's a fine place.

Mine, in Otsego, Minnesota is super great!!. no really, they have a room
with toys and a tv/vcr and big windows so you can bring your kids and work
out. (few have this). It is very supportive and warm. It can get a bit
spiritual at times but people seem to go at times that "work" for them in
more ways than time of day. I go M-W-F when my little one is at preschool. I
do the circuit 3 times and walk for 30 min on the treadmill (few have this)
or I walk 60 min then do the circuit 2 times. Mine is located in an area
where I get a massage every other Monday instead of work out. then I go in
the early morning or Tuesday with my S4 with me. I can also go grab a tan
downstairs too. Now all we need is a Caribou Coffee <g>.

The first one I joined, In Monticello, MN, was a small little room and was
yucky. You can get a pass and go to any Curves location so I have tried a
few when I used to work during the week. Now I only work weekends. I like
mine the best. so look around. I like it because I can talk to others if I
want, or I can just work out and think in my own head.
check it out. Most will let you try it out before you commit.

I would be surprised if the river water was steaming. Probably, you are
talking about water vapor. Steam, after all is vapor coming off of heated
    water.

I have serious issues with the company founders making donations
numbering of millions of dollars to militant anti-abortion groups.
They come across all pro-feminist but you're basically handing your
money every month to a George Bush-style Texas evangelical.

In the small picture, the workout seemed fairly wimpy (even when I
tried very hard to to push myself and the machines). And I tried
three local franchises and couldn't find one that would stop playing
this horrifically bad Christian dance music for any length of time,
even upon request. (I tried claiming I was Jewish.) I'm not making
this up. Call any Curves near downtown Orlando and ask them about the
Christian music. They'll tell you it's on 'sometimes', or that 'all
you have to do is ask and they'll turn it off'.

I agree. Some adjustable dumbbells and a bench and yer good to go.
That's how I started out, and it was fun (and effective).

Later on, I added a power cage, barbells, plates, mats, platforms,
    etc. as needed.

And I don't have to deal with overcrowding/equipment availability
    issues.

My Curves plays 80's pop music, some 90's. and most of the women at mine are
in average shape. The workout is all what you make of it. IMO

What, are you in kindergarten or something? I don't have very many
folks in my killfiles, but when I decide to add an entry, I do it
quietly and don't feel the need to passively-aggressively broadcast it
across usenet for attention. Or, for that matter, hump other people's
posts to get at my supposed killfile entries.

You know, like you do all the time.

  17. I have been here in SW Missouri for 7 years now, but I did visit Rogers,
MN last Sept. I drove into the city just fine, but coming back I took (what
is it?) the 95th st exit off 94. Where there is Target and Americana
Bank(???). I got lost. I took a round about route past the Hennepin Cty
fair. Luckily, I got back to the intersection where Target is. From there I
went the right direction then. We are coming back this year. I was trying to
get to my uncle's, which is about 1/4 mile from the golf course. Do you know
    these places?
