I managed to get out again today, the weather being a lot better than of late. I had a long walk to Esk Pike and Bow Fell from Cockley Beck, along a boggy Moasdale (gaiters required here for sure!!)and over Lingcove Beck. I was rewarded with brilliant views of Esk Pike, Bow Fell and the Crinkle Crags - there was a fair bit of snow about above the 600m mark as well. That made descent of the 'bad step' interesting! A great day out, I would recommend this walk to anyone as possibly the best views of these fells. Photo's are posted: http://www.stridingedge.net

On your 3D map, what's the huge lump shooting off the top of the picture which looks oddly as if it ought to be several hundred metres higher than Bowfell meant to be? I can't picture anything remotely like that there from memory.
Being a good 3.5-4 hours away from Cumbria, its been impossible this year so far to fit in a visit to the Lakes. [🙁]

Andy - they will be the Langdale Pikes. Where 'Shelter Crags' is written is The Band - I think it's just the angle that makes the Langdales look like they are going to overshadow Everest!

It does, but I can't imagine what sort of distorted perspective makes it appear as it does it, what with it being about 200m lower than Bow Fell and a long way behind that from a SW viewpoint.
