It's a bit windy !

Yes, it's still quite bad here in the Lake District. Not as bad as you
have got it and not as bad as the other night thankfully. I've been
listening to the BBC news on the radio and they keep saying the worst
of the weather is in 'northern Britain'. Whilst technically correct,
why don't they just say Scotland?!

Just had a walk arounf the garden. Shed windows blown in and door blown off
!
I see the weather station at Loch Glascarnach isn't sending back data
anymore, wonder if it's still there?

They were getting complaints 'cos they kept mentioning when Scotland had
bad weather. It's now "Northern Britain" when it's bad, but reverts back
to Scotland when the sun comes out.

One of the problems with the weather forecast is working out when
"Northwest" means beyond the Great Glen, and when it means beyond

Yes, that is an interesting website. I see that one of the things they
measure is solar radiation.

I think that it would be interesting if they also measured ionising
radiation to see how much of an effect the emissions from Sellafield have.

Has anyone else on this NG ever wondered how much radiation they are being
pelted with whilst walking in the Lake District? Most of the official
monitoring seems to be confined to sites on the West Cumbrian coast. For
