  1. I am not sure if this is the right place. Please suggest other forums that
    deals with children nutrition.

Every since I switched my one year old from formula to whole milk, he has
stopped drinking milk. Its been almost a week now. The doctor says that keep
trying and he will come around. But I have a friend and her daughter stopped
drinking milk since she was two. Please help.

No big deal as long as the child is eating real (ie. similar to adult
    food) food he'll be fine.

I could have been the taste. I switched my kids over slowly, adding just a
little whole milk into the formula and every week, increasing the milk and
decreasing the formula. Did you do the same or did you make the switch
quicker? If you made it faster, the taste would have been a shock to your
    boy's taste buds.

You could try chocolate milk if you are really worried. My kids love
chocolate milk, and truth be told, I have a glass or two a week also.
But my kids also take after me and love milk.

  5. Probably the taste difference. Fortunately, most experts agree that
    you can 'train' your tastebuds.

For milk in particular (moving from whole to skim, for example) it's
usually recommended that you do it gradually, in stages (whole, 2%,
1%, then skim if you like).

I bet the theory would work for you too - if you start with a blend of
formula and milk, beginning with just a little milk at first, and
increasing the ratio of milk slowly over time.

Alternately, it could be the taste of the fat that she's not use to...
You could try giving her 1% and if she will drink that, then gradually
working up to whole milk (so that you don't have to mess with formula
    still).

Despite what the anti-milk group says, most nutritionist recommend
high fat (whole) milk for children up until about 2, 3 or even 4,
    particularily for proper brain development.

    Good luck!

why did you stop the formula?

My son had a milk/dairy allergy as a kid so he actually used formula as a
milk substitute until he was 3, then we started using soy milk until he
finally outgrew the allergy at about 5yrs old.

IMHO, you should think twice before allowing your child to drink
    cow's milk.

The chemical composition of cow's milk follows:

Human milk is about 5% protein while cow's milk is 15%
protein. Within the overall protein, the heavy & thick
casein protein portion in cow's milk is 20 times that of
    human milk.

Many people can not digest that heavy/thick casein protein
within cow's milk - thus clogging up their digestive system
    and insides.

Thus they may get health conditions like ear infections and
strep throats. When I was a cow's milk drinker, I would
get strep throats twice a year. Once I stopped drinking
cow's milk, no more strep throats.

For additional information, check out these web sites:

    www.notmilk.com www.panix.com/~nomilk

Also, use a search engine to search for these terms:

book & (cow's milk) "The Deadly Poison"

Sensitivities can exist to either the lactose or the casein in milk or
    both.

  11. You can try strawberry milk. Just buy the powder kind and mix it w/milk.
I use to warmed it up a little. Chocolate milk my cause
constipation for the little one. Also, you can try to give your toddler
some yogurts. The liquid ones may be also good start/ try the peach
    kind, low fat.

  14. Well, we certainly do worship the beast. we eat it's flesh, drink it's
mucous in 400 different ways, even after it has curdled and gone bad. Canada
has dedicated a whole food group to it.

Some people even grind the flesh up, burn it, put it between two pieces of
ruined cooked wheat and add tomato flavoured syrup to it.

Damn, this made me so hungry I'm going to have a nice burger shaped into
a cute calf's face and eat it rare with cheddar cheese on a lightly
toasted roll. Since it's cold where I live I'll have some hot chocolate
made from skim milk go with it. Hmm, maybe two. In the very genetic
