  1. I just bought a box of DREAMFIELDS low carb pasta, made from grain.
    On the box it says

    Per 3/4 cup (85 g, dry)
    Total Carbs 62 g
    Dietary Fiber -7 g
    Protected Carbs -47 g
    ____________________

    Digestible Carbs 8 g

What are protected carbs or is it just a trick to sell this stuff?
    Jerry

  2. Basically it's carbs that aren't digestible and aren't supposed to raise
blood sugar. Some diabetics have posted having problems with it, though.
They explain it on their website.
I'm not diabetic and have been eating their pastas since July with no
    problems whatsoever.

I'm diabetic and Dreamfield's doesn't bother my blood sugar a bit. Only
problem I have is finding it🙂 BTW, the macaroni (cook al dente) with some
cheese sauce baked until browned on top is fantastic! Even the non low
carbers in my home love it. I buy the Ragu double cheddar sauce, not
advertised as low carb but it is 3 grams per serving.

I had some the other night. It was the first pasta I've had in 6 years! I
thought it was beyond awful! My wife said that if you really want something
bad for you, why not eat the real thing and be done with it! She has a good
    point.

  6. I think you're the only person who has ever posted a negative review of
Dreamfields pastas. You should try the soy-based LC pastas. They're like
trying to eat rubber-bands in both taste and texture. Dreamfields tastes
just like regular high-carb pasta to the rest of us.

Certainly the only one I've seen that complained about the taste, of
Dreamfield's that's for sure. Of the various low carb
products of any kind available, this one is certainly one of the top
ones for being close to the regular product. I think it
    tastes excellent.

  8. we moved in november and the FIRST thing i got rid of, much to my
families delight, is all my WHOLE WHEAT/LOWER CARB pasta!

Sensible. But what if the stuff should turn out to be the long-sought
    magic bullet?

Actually, I'm probably not at all interested in eating it, since it's
probably another spin/scam, but I'd still like to know what it means.

I strongly suspect you are confusing Dreamfields (the subject of this
thread, and pretty much indistinguishable from real, al dente pasta),
with Darielle, which is one of the gross soy (I think) pastas.

Not to me. I tasted it *once* and *only* once. I could not stand the
    stuff.

It means those carbs won't be absorbed by your body if you use the product
the way it was intended to be used. You can read about it on their website.
However, is some fake pasta worth messing up progress for?

How would that be messing up your progress?
