I heard about a ride of a sunday in Brisbane, its the Zupps ride.
Where does it go , how far ?
What sort of pace is run ?
And how many riders show up.
And can anyone go ?
Thanks,
Tim

May as well whack this website up again - has been an invaluable "ride
catalogue" resource for me as I slowly move back into the Brisbane
cycling scene:

You can click on the links for Brisbane North or Brisbane South rides
(as well as some other areas in SE Qld).

50 K's an hour, man thats too fast for me .
TheTour De France stages only average around 42 to 44 K's an hour, so you
guys are pretty good, or you may need a new speedo.

That's average speed for stages 130-200+ k's long
and they have slightly bigger hills over there :-)
How far is Scarborough to Hornibrook Hwy?

I've never measured this stretch, but in our long rides rides we would
hit scarborough under an hour and redcliffe under 1 1/2 h, which is past
the Hwy, and that's at our warm up pace, so that 50 kph can't have been
much more than a 10km stretch or something. On the topic of me, my old
coach wants me to do Forster, he wants me bad.

That makes the 50kph seem a lot better.

Woah.. wants you to do Foster or wants you?
Maybe both? So are you going to do it? When is it?

I'm thinking not. He's too old for me. Ha ha ha ha....
Oh you meant Forster? Umm... don't think so. I nead permission of my
Commanding Officer in order to get paid for the days I'm down there, and
he's not around at the moment, so it's unlikely I'll hear back by
Wednesday, which is when I have to accept by.

I have been told that Sunday ride is quick and known for accidents as well. I do Zupps to Scarborough by myself in under an hour and a quarter at just over 30kph and that doesn't include the run up to Deception Bay which they do on Sundays, so I reckon they must be averaging 38-40 whilst they are warming up!
Much to quick for me at present that's for sure. Saturday Zupps ride is much better but still not slow (for me anyway)!
By the way, yes it is pretty flat.
