I own and enjoy a Burley Taiko. The Weinmann Zac 19 rims are the only downside I can think of and am contemplating upgrading them. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated. My ride style is commuting and touring over suburban and country roads. My front rim has a slight bulge at the seam which causes braking to be a grab on/off kind of affair. I've tried sanding the seam smooth, but the real problem seems (no pun intended) to be slight change in width over the circumference of the rim. The rear is not as bad. Are the Areoheater rims from Velocity any better? What about Ryhno or Ryhno -lites or Bontrager. I'm 175 lbs and will probably keep my 32 Hole Shimano LX hubs.
There was a batch of Zac 19's that had that bulge at the seam. I think it was the last batch they had before making everything overseas. We built a wheelset for somebody using the same irm and had to replace the rims. I've got a feeling it was part of that batch.
THe Rhynos work well and Vuelta airliners. They are a tad wider though at 22mm vs the ZAc's 19mm rim width.
