Hi, everyone.
I read this ng now and then, sometimes there's even something useful
here. Today I suddenly am in a mood to write the story of my life, so
here it goes. Be afraid.
I am 32 years old, 250 pounds. Bit of excess fat, you see. Never was a
sports type, hated any kind of sport since childhood, never thought
about running until I got married 5 years ago.
My sweet wife suggested that 'you, fatso, could use some running!'
Needless to say, she does not run and don't care to. I studied
available information, understood that, if I want to lose fat, dieting
would be much efficient than running. As I discovered later, dieting
is also much harder than running. Another curse from Mother Nature.
So, I set to run. 5 years passed and here is wisdom I gathered during
it:
1.Shoes are important. First 4 years I used godforgivemeforiamidiot
kind of running shoes, my legs were hurting all day, no matter how I
stretched. Then I bought Reeboks. Suddenly I can run twice as fast and
legs are OK.
2.I don't have to run like wind. Because I fall down breathless after
half a mile. It took me 3 years to persuade myself that I don't have
to impress all passers-by with my supreme physical condition, and nice
slow running is much better for me and my body.
3.I am not sleepy. I am morning person and before I started running, I
got up at 5 AM. When I started running, suddenly I was veeeery
sleeepy...
5 years souns like a lot of time, but actually it was couple on months
running, then I was overpowered by sleep, home work, children,
whatever. After few months I gathered all my tremendous willpower and
started again. Repeated cycle again and again.
But now it seems to me that running has finally part of my life, I
enjoy my early mornings and don't exhaust myself. 4 times a week, 2 -
3 mile runs. Heck, I am satisfied with myself...few days ago I even
made my first 4 mile run...that was great. Even fat is going away,
little by little, yet I don't think it's because of running.
Anyway, running feels good.
Everyone, who is still reading, has too much free time...😉
