Anyone who has bought the Tracklogs software for any part of the UK (not
sure about the free demo package) has the OS digital elevation model for
the whole UK (EnhancedElevationModel.pkg). Turns out it is trivially
easy to rip this into the 56 100Km squares of the national grid, and
turn it into .BMP files, and feed those into Ozi explorer. No roads or
any other features, just height. For my next trick I'm going to figure
how to turn it into contours (although the resolution is 100*100m, which
is actually worse than the free SRTM data you can get from NASA ..
however the OS data has sea level sorted out correctly (mostly) and is
on a nice square grid.
I have an Excel /Visual Basic program which does that, if anyone is
interested (it violates copyright to ship the elevation .pkg data around
between people, but I don't see that 'fair use' should preclude you from
unwinding one you've bought a license for. 8>.)
