  1. Hello all -

Just purchased a Trek Madone 5.2 & am looking to get a nice bike computer (flight deck?) for it. Any suggestions on what I should be looking for? THanks

  2. I just did similar research and a majority of the posters on this forum have a CatEye Astrale 8.

Mine just arrived. It's sitting on the desk in front of me right now.

The advantages of the Flight Deck are:

    1) its controls are integrated into the STI shifters so you don't have to move your hands to cycle through the various readouts.

    2) it displays what gear you are in.

    3) since it knows what gear you are in, how big your tires are, and how fast you are moving, it can compute your cadence without a separate cadence sensor.

Programming it the first time is a little tedious but not too difficult.

Should you want them, it does not give you heart rate, temperature, or altimeter functions.
