44, but feel every day of it. Just bought a used Bianchi and I'm enjoying
around the neighborhood, but I'd prefer a trail of some kind w/o the
'exciting bit where the car flies by'...

    44,

    Naw, you are not old.

I'm 65, and we have lots of bicyclers around in their 70's, 80's and even 90's
    who are not yet old.

You just need a bit of attitude change.

Sorry, can't help you with the DFW bit.

    You might try:

    http://www.bikeforums.net.

There are some Texas folks there.

    Have fun, youngster!

    Hey Bob,

I thought I was seeing things when I saw "Chino Cherokee". I thought I must
have been RASF1, but then I noticed I was in my other favorite group to
    lurk.

No, you're not too old to ride. I'm 63 and just started riding 5 years ago
and now I have three road bikes and a tandem. I got my wife riding (on the
tandem) a little less than 2 years ago and we already have 5000 miles on it.
I can't wait until I can retire so I can ride all the time! (except when
    there's an F1 race on).

    FORZA FERRARI (AND PEGORETTI)!!!

    Hey, we must be twins!

I started when I was 58, also, and got my wife riding with me, although we do
not use a tandem. She has several thousands of miles on her bikes, also.

Now, if I can only figure out this atrial fibrillation thing that started
September 1st, perhaps I can get back into serious riding. I went out today in
extremely high winds (blew 6 planes over at the Boulder Airport) for a few
miles and I come back pretty tired. My heart is pumping at about 70%. Darn!

My father has that. They tried a procedure on him to shock it back into
beating correctly, though for him it went back out again in a few days.
    In the meantime, made sure they test your Coumadin level frequently;
it gets out of whack easily and it really is important (my father had a
small stroke when his level went out of what it was supposed to be,
though that is after many years of living with the problem). Don't eat
a lot of broccoli--that interferes with the Coumadin level. I think
there are some other vegetables to watch out for, but that is the one I
    remember.

  10. Bob,
There is a paved multi-use trail called the White Rock Creek Trail that
begins at Valley View Park in Dallas. The park is just North of I635 at
Hillcrest. It heads South to White Rock Lake and is about 7 miles. If you
want more miles you can ride around White Rock Lake for another 9 to 10
miles. It is a pleasant ride and not very difficult. Use caution in wet
weather. Some parts can get muddy and pretty slick. I found out the hard way
last year when I took a spill and broke a collar bone.

Any dark green leafy vegtable - they're high in Vitamin K which in
combination with the coumadin can make the effective dose of coumadin
    higher than it should be.
