I'm a strong sprinter racing in the B's and can push a big gear, thus I was hoping on suggestions of what is the best gear ratio to use. I've used a 49x15 in a past competition and acheived a 12.75, but want to improve on that so I can be seeded better for match sprints.
I concur with what the other two respondent say, there are so many variables it is very difficult to just make simple suggestions to get what you want.
You also need to have someone look at your position on the bike, how you fit the machine, saddle height, stem lenght, bar position, foot position on the pedal, technic in turning the pedals.
All this has a relevance when going for a quick time over a distance of 200 metres.
Surely you must have an experienced person within your club to advise how to achieve such a goal.
How much do you train, how many road kilometres do you put in and what intensity do you apply to your training, do you train weights, do you do 4BX exercise.
All of the above are questions I always ask people I train here.
Depending upon their answers, I give them a training schedule and watch their progress from there on, advising them where and if they need to change various things, until they ultimately reach their goal.
Sorry if all this is too difficult but that's what is involved in gettting what you want, are you trying to get to state level or some other target. TBC
