  1. Well, after many weekend rides with my wife on a Giant hybrid trying to keep
up with me on a road bike, even though I'm trying to go slowly, she decides
to get a s/h road bike. Great call - a bit hard to go s/h though as she
    needs a small frame...

Anyway, to cut a long story short, found one in the paper, paid her $600 (!)
and has now got a 2 year old "Avanti Corsa Pro Series", not a mark on it,
chain looks like it's done 500km, carbon fork and the works, and the only
"work" it needed was new bar tape as the old stuff was manky. Other than
    that, looks brand new.

It's a sweet bike, and I am quite truly jealous...

    Cheers

Well??? What are you waiting for???

You are NEVER gonna get a better opportunity to 'hit' her up for a new bike, now are you?!?!?!?

Guilt is a wonderful thing. Pout lots and have frequent mechanicals
(hacksaw work the night before your rides together will get you well on the way 😉 ).
Make it seem like your bike cannot go/do something as well as hers.
Word up your LBS and devise a strategy whereupon you/wife go in and the LBS-guy/gal looks pensive then gives a verdict of it being the knackery for your steed.

Ooooooh, aint bikes evil? First you were sneakig time away, now your considering 'Bikecide' 😄

or 2 bikes, one to ride comfortably with her and one to stretch her.
(assuming you are the faster rider.)

If all it took to get my wife out riding was a new bike I would spend as much as she wanted!! but I cant complain I was "allowed" to buy a new bike just recently.... 🙂
