It was about forty bucks....they also offer a demo version.

They are not satellite photos. They are 1 meter resolution DOQ's based
on photos from the National Aerial Photography Program. If you want to
compare satellite and aerial "photos" google up some of the late
Corona Project photos. Most everything after Corona was/is MSS data.

Now if anyone has any project Wild Boar data ...

But when I go directly through www.terraserver.com, I get a qualification:
"...not currently available for this area".

But when I try Montreal (45.5 N, 73.58333 W), I only get a hit on the 512 meter
option (which is basically useless - showing Long Island NY as well....what you
really need is 4 meter...).

My conclusion: it's an ongoing work and parts of Canada may or may not be
loaded. Certainly there's nothing in TopoFusion that's USA-specific and the
TerraServer UI supports international city searches....

Which are better?

For mapping, aerial photos are probably better. Aerial photos are
cheaper and easy to get than most satellite data. By the end of
Corona, they were producing 4 meter color stereo-pair (negative based)
images. Corona was pretty much the high point of negative
based/satellite platforms.

Now if you have the money, MSS data is great. You can select the band
you want to observe and pixel resolution is not as solid a wall for
interpretation since you can interpolate between pixels. Plus, public
available MSS data had been 1/2 meter resolution (before
interpolation) since the mid 1980's.

As for Project Wild Boar, the platform was way more interesting than
the data.

I thought the data was quite old since the feds will not allow the
release of updated data for security reasons. I also understand that
they deliberately leave out certain coordinates.
