I need to find footware that can be washed everytime I workout and quickly dried. They don't need to be good for running at all (even something like slippers would do) because I'd use them only for cross training on elliptical, bike, rower, and stepper.
The problem is that when I do, say, the elliptical trainer, I sweat rivers and my shoes always end up soaked. After the first few workouts they begin to stink very noticably, and I get dirty looks from people on the neighboring machines.
Anybody else have this problem and found a good solution?

I wash my muddy running shoes in a small tub, stuff an old dish towel in the shoes to squeeze the major water out of them, then then put them on the rack in my dryer (which lets stuff just lie there without tumbling). Takes less than 45 minutes on low to get dry.
I haven't noticed any wear or tear on the shoes doing this.
I have this problem, too, because of hot, humid conditions where I run. Day-to-day, I remove the sock liner and stuff the shoe loosely with newspaper; if the shoe is really wet I may have to change the paper a couple times. Drying time is always less than a day.
Finally, though, stink builds up. I've found that a monthly soak in a scuba product called "sink the stink", designed for wetsuits, cleans the shoes up beautifully with no apparent damage.
