I thought that a little weird. To the extent I can understand a 3C air pump, I
cannot see an INCOMPLETE pump at that price.
Gee, complete one for $325 make WAY more sense. Sort of.

Certainly. There are a few details, however. The internal bore of bean
cans joined together into a tube will not be sufficiently regular to
afford a useful seal between the plunger and the bore. The cans could
be mounted on a lathe with a boring bar to improve the seal. Denting of
the thin walls is likely, and there is a technical term to describe that
sort of failure: "bean canning". So it would seem advisable to first do
some filling with brass, before the lathing.
The bore size of the pump, being much larger than an ordinary pump, will
produce only large amounts of low pressure air. This is really where
the project fails, and it seems likely that higher pressures of gas
would be achieved by *eating* the beans and directly delivering it via
the well-known anus-Presta connection.

Just leave some of the beans in the can. This works well to seal things up.

You might find helpful to lightly grease the presta threads with
Preparation H and/or Lidocaine (Topical)
