I can't swear to it, but it sounds like the new fake name that an E-bay scam
artist started using after getting busted. (Many examples posted in the
rec.* cycling groups; pretty obvious rip-offs.)

Why would you buy a bike from overseas, anyway?

It's a scam. They hijacked a legit account. Check out the [censored] they
sold before bikes in the feedback page. Saty away from anything that's
new, expensive, and starts at $1 not to mention Western Union payments.

This was just posted (on RBOR, of all places!) -- just FYI...

A few weeks ago there were some postings on an eBay scammer specializing in
high end bikes. He's back (eBay id: secom-cycle1235 and his website is
www.secom-cycle.com). Once again he is using a stolen eBay account.

Here's how to find the guy and report him to eBay whenever he pops up--not
that it will do much good -- I've reported him to eBay several times and he
returns unfazed.

Search for any of these: CANNONDALE BIKE, KONA BIKE, SPECIALIZED BIKE, DEAN
BIKE, SANTA CRUZ BIKE, JAMIS BIKE, ELLSWORTH BIKE and then look for items
where the bid price is $1.00 and where the comments at the bottom of the
auction listing ask bidders not to bid but to contact him directly. That's
the essence of his M.O. I usually jump right to the items most recently put
up for auction; the longer the items are up, the more likely they will have
been spotted and taken down.

To report him to eBay follow this path:

--Click Help (at top of eBay main page)
--Click Contact us (left side of page)
--Choose "Report problems with other eBay members" from list.
--Choose "Fraud concerns for buyers" from the next list.
--Choose "The problem you're having with fraud isn't listed"
--Click CONTINUE
--Click the "Email" link under "Customer Support Option(s):"
--provide the latest id he's using and give a brief description.

You can't find a Gary Fisher bike in the US? I don't understand. If a
seller wants Western Union, it is a scam.

I would not touch any retailer that does not take credit cards, you have no
consumer protection paying by bank draft. In reply to Bill, yes, i bought
my Marin East Peak from the US as they were not available in France and the
shipping was no more than that from the UK plus i saved about £350 what with
the low dollar and all. I checked out the retailer as far as possible,
spoke to them a few times on the phone, and paid by credit card. DHL shpped
the whole pack in less than a week and by the end of the month i had fallen
off three times, damn those pedals.
I can't vouch for SECOM but paying by c/c at least gives you protection if
the whole affair goes belly up.

Ah, but that's different from someone in the US buying a Gary Fisher from
the UK.

There is no Secom Cycles in Sydney Street. Never pay anybody by Western
Union. Just a couple of reasons to avoid the 'deal'.
