Hi, I'm new to the newsgroup, so apologies if this is an old subject; I have a Trek (by Kryptonite) U-lock a year or two old, anyone know if this is included in the problem of U-locks that can be picked by a Bic pen? Does Trek take them back (I no longer have the receipt)?

You need to hit the Kryptonite web site and sign up for the lock replacement program. I believe they are replacing locks bought in the last two years, although you should check on that as I'm not sure how far back they are going. Be prepared for a long wait before you get a replacement, it's first come first served.

Actually I don't think it *is* first come first served. I applied for a replacement in September and they replied, saying I would hear again from them in due course. Last week I phoned them to find out what was going on, since I had heard that others who applied later than I did have received replacements. I was told that I was on the list.... but that they were sending out replacements lock type by lock type, so if you have the "wrong" type as I evidently do, you gotta wait even longer.
