Having just looked at the how much does your bike weigh thread, i started wondering how heavy the heaviest bike is. In this weeks Cycling weekly i saw a bike that weighed 53 lbs(24kg) , it was one of those stupid muscle bike things. It is the heaviest one i managed to find and i think that could be a winner, but if any of you guys know any other bikes that are nigh on impossible to lift then feel free to prove me wrong 🙂

Not sure, but that sounds pretty hard to beat, unless we start getting into the realms of Penny Farthings, etc (bet they weighed something and then some...).
However, a mini contender from the 80s could well be the Raleigh Grifter; I remember mine feeling like it weighed in at only slightly less than the average battleship...

I suspect that thsi one is a bit diffcult to lift with one hand. (Spokes are a real [censored] to find at the LBS, too!)

Some years ago, I had a chance to try out an authentic penny farthing. I'd guess the weight at somewhere between 70 and 80 pounds. It was cast iron, and heavy. Solid rubber tires, so the ride was, um, stimulating.
I don't know how they climbed any sort of grade, it was all I could do to manage level ground on that monster.

I bet it was interesting when they descended.
