I have only owned Shimano so I have nothing to compare them to but there are sure prettier ones out there.

I can't speak as one with much experience, but I purchased a pair of Shimano Mountain Bike shoes that I use on my touring bike and I absolutely LOVE them... they are so comfortable... WAY more comfortable than the tennis shoes I wear almost every day.
