  1. Some people in Boulder Colorado are upset about a racing tax:

Boulder is considered one of the best places in the US to run
due to scenery, climate, and altitude.
Boulder is also one of the most leftist cities in the US.

Whether there should be tax is one thing, but if ya don't
like "leftist" Boulder, don't run there. Maybe you should
run in Orange, CA, one of the most right wing cities in
the US. They don't have similarly attractive open space
    and trails...

Boulder is _also_ one of the few city/counties around that
has the sort of open space, trails, parks, and scenery
preserved for recreational activities like running and hiking
and climbing that other residents in "rightist" run places
can only dream about. If you want the "best," you have to
    pay for it.

  3. Be it a red city or a blue city, this is just another example of filthy,
slimy greedy politicians trying to screw people out of more money so
they, the politicians, can hire and/or give out contracts to more of
their supporters to insure they get reelected.

Even the dumbest tax collector should be able to tell the difference
between an admission charge to view an event, and an entry fee to
    participate in an event.

  5. Gosh Tom you are dumb as a brick. Not only can't you read, but you must

I'll type this real slow so maybe you can understand it.

There is no difference between a democrat and a republican. Once elected
they go to work to get reelected. How? By spending our money. Well it
    use to be our money.

Where I live is immaterial. If a large number of people decide not to
come to "your" community to run a race, and spend their money on all of
the related expenses because it now costs a hundred dollars more than
the week before because a politician thinks they have found a way to
squeeze a little more blood out the turnip, everyone loses.

Last time I looked all the national networks had colored Colorado red
for Bush. So I guess you will be the one leaving "your" great state.

So take your name calling, typical left wing "I'm gonna tell you where,
what, how, when and who you gonna do, 'cause only us liberals know
what's best for everybody else" and shove it up your ass.

By the way, who died and appointed you the gate keeper?

Ah, yes there is, dumbshit. You and Ralph Nader should grow
up and then shut up. It's the right wing of the republican
party (who also are fond of demonizing Boulder and any other
Americans they disagree with) who are weakening air and water
quality standards, refuse to accept global warming _even_

and think Dubya is on a mission from "God" to convert the
world to Jerry Falwell rewrite the US Constitution from
"goverment by and for the people" to "government by and for
the CEO." A significant diff if ya ask me, and I'm neither

At least the _democrats_ under Clinton actually did what
the republicans always [censored] about: namely, balance the

Get an education. _NOTHING_ stops people from coming to
beautiful CO. And just why is that? Because some (like
Boulder _elected_ officials representing the populance,
as opposoed to rick+++) make sure there still a something
"beautiful" to come and visit besides shopping malls. BTW,
CO also has quite substantial statewide tourism taxes. Big

    That does not compute.

A so-called leftist city actually working in a capitalistic way,
    collecting fees for resource use?

Don't they know that the real looting action is in identifying those

    _____

Tom, here is where Boulder & C0. is "missing it" and I think you'll agree with
me. There's room for every level of Government to have targeted tax breaks,
    perks, etc.

Events, services, & products that work in the aggregate interest of improving
citizens health, lower medical costs, etc. should be encouraged & fostered
through an array of means (included tax breaks/perks).

Right now we all subsidize the care & societal cost of unfit people that make
unhealthy choices. Sure, a runner in an event could get injured.....but
methinks a much higher percentage of the Krispy Kreme & McDonald's crowd will
have clogged arteries and cost the tax-payer more money.

Boulder, CO, and our country should think of the big picture and foster
(subsidize) running and walking events, and have certain things be tax-free
entirely like athletic products, organic & unprocessed foods, etc. and have
huge tobacco-like taxes on junk food, Lazy-Boy Chairs, & all things "couch
    potato".

I'm on your side Tom, I just think on the list of targets to secure more
revenue from within the city limits....there are candidates that rank much
higher to punish. Let me ask you...do they sell fastfood, cigarettes, Doritos
and SUV's in Boulder? No matter how they're taxed now, tax them some more!
But keep your hands out of the pockets of events that serve the health interest
    of the citizens.

Off the top of my head....I'm guessing CO has no problem tax perking &
subsidizing clogging arteries of people all around the world through their huge
Beef/Cattle industry...right? Amusing ironic...that in Colorado the red carpet
is rolled out for the clogging of arteries industry...while a running event
serving health interest is not privy to similar perks.

A so-called leftist city actually working in a capitalistic way,
    collecting fees for resource use?
