  1. Is there really any danger in eating a lot of this? I have read some
negative info on soy but considering the [censored] I used to eat before adopting
a low-carb WOE can it really be that harmful to the human body?

How do you define "a lot?" I eat tofu as frequently as I can, since I
love it and it's relatively low-carb.

  3. I've been eating a "brick" a day because I love it and it's low carb. But I
am concerned about a lot of the negative things on the net about soy
    products and thyroid, etc.

There may be genuine cause for concern, but I'm not interested in
getting obsessive. Billions of people in Asia eat tofu frequently,
there are probably worse problems with antibiotics etc. in regular
commercial beef, and it's important to me to avoid excessive worry. I
try to eat a good variety of low-carb foods with plenty of fresh vegies
and the occasional foray into "But I like it a lot and I'm only going to
have a little bit" foods, and the rest will have to sort itself out.

I haven't really studied this. (I've eaten tofu for years at Asian
restaurants, when I could afford to, so that was self-limiting.) But what
little I've seen and heard anti-soy has seemed to have some sort of
political or ideological agenda. It's been at sites that were also
anti-ecology, anti-vegetarian, promoting the US meat industry.... Or at
least US products vs Asian products....

There might be a genetic factor, but otoh tofu has been around the US in
counter-culture / vegetarian circles since at least the 1970s, so that's
time for any real problems to have shown up.

Yes. Ime pigging out on something for a while (a brick a day) usually leads
to me getting burnt out on it and not eating any more for months. Maybe
there's something in it he really needs right now. Over a year it might
average out to not so much.

If I were concerned, I'd ask some anti-soy source just what exactly it was
supposed to do to ME, and how I could verify whether it was doing it or not.
See what kind of answer they had.

There's also the issue with phyto-estrogens, and that can be a problem
for some women, particularly women with breast cancers that feed on
    estrogen.

Read what you'd like into it. Main adverse effects of soy quoted as being the
high level of hormone-like substance in them. Some says some wishy washy stuff
about some "bad substance" that are being destroyed in the process of making soy
sauce and tofu. But what are they? I have no idea. If you find any thing
about it please post it here to share.

Tofu are pretty much mostly water, so I guess it would be hard to overdose on
    it. I dunno...
