  1. Got up early (for a Sunday) full of best intentions. Hit the streets at 8:15 am heading West towards
    Oldham. Got as far as Cleckheaton (5.9 miles) and had to change gear for the first up hill - had
    just done about 3 miles of descending. My gear cable snapped, bu&*er. I pulled it out, used a small
    stone to wedge the deraileur under the 17 sprocket and cycled home using the inner and middle rings
    - 13 miles.

    Got the other bike out and rode to York, spent most of the journey with three other guys who live
    near me. Man it was hot and windy on the way home, absolutely knackered. Total for the day 80 miles.
