  1. Black rotors for my D.I.S.S.

Anybody hear of any black, stainless steal rotors?

They'd look great with the Black D.I.S.S ensemble.

    Peace,
    Bill (just a thought) Wheeler

    Now that could be sexy.
But seriously, I wonder if those rotors stay black after use...
It would be "cool", kind of like how my helmet matches my bike color. The wife got lots of laughter out of that choice (purely coincidence, I think).

    Kraig.

You'll need to go to a carbon-kevlar type of brake. With metals, any outer
surface material that's colored black will be scraped off the pads on the
first few applications, and the pad will be shiny. These pads will also
need to be warmed up and kept warm, so unless you're doing serious DH on
your bike, you might be out of luck. But people would say, "Whoa, look at
that cool bike!" so nothing else matters.

If you make the rotor ridiculously small so as to minimize heat dissipation,
or to keep the brakes dragging all the time, it might work!!!

Couldn't you take a blow torch to the rotor and gently heat it
uniformly? At the very least you would end up with kind of a dark
    purple swirley color.

And most likely alter the properties of the steel.

Just don't heat it above 727C...

Stan's offers rotors that are black from the "bolt on area" to the
braking surface, with the braking surface being a gold color.
(bling-bling) They are aluminum, coated with God-knows-what, so
they can be used with stock brake pads. But at $90 per rotor, the
    bling ain't cheap...
