  1. I'm sure others of you out there have experienced the annoyance of the woman driver; crawling slowly behind you, allowing enough space for a tank to pass in between you and their left side, causing a long tailback, and then after about five minutes, finally takes the plunge to overtake but misjudges the blind corner and cuts in too soon, so that you almost go into the back of her.

It really does demonstrate that their spacial awareness is completely different to that of a man. Oh well, they do cause less accidents I suppose.

Get a life not all women drive like that! All the grief I get on the road are mostly male drivers!🙁

I was going to suggest that you forgot the crosspost to uk.tosspot. But
you hail from cyclingforums so are probably unaware of their existence.

On the rare occasions that I actually clock the gender of the driver who
cut me up it seems to balance out at 50:50, although if I include taxi
drivers (A special species of sub-human mostly), the balance is tilted
    towards the men.

And they cause "fewer" accidents, not "less" accidents. If you're going
to troll, at least do so properly!

I thought they 'caused' (more accurately, 'were involved in'😉 more
accidents, but that those accidents were much less likely to cause
death or injury. That is, they feature in more insurace claims, and
    fewer police statistics.

I was more on about your idea that someone complaining about women drivers
    has a small [censored].

FWIW, women do have different spatial awareness to men, and IME there are a
fair few women who aren't especially good at overtaking. It's probably got a
lot to do with the fact that they don't spent a good two or three years
driving everywhere flat out after passing their test like a lot of blokes
do, so don't get the practice.

i have been hit by a number of cars and involved in quite a few accidents, but unfortunately the truth of the matter is that all the accidents i have been involved in have been male drivers, i would love to sit here and blast a female driver, only because they have a licence and i don't 🙂

So ladies keep giving way to that cyclist, choose your drive path and keep to it, unlike your male counterparts... I PAY MY ROAD TAXES, I'M GONNA GET MY MONEYS WORTH AND USE IT ALL!

maybe its the women let us through to clock our arses, and the fellas don't want to see that sight. but i don't complain about women drivers, i complain about all drivers, come sunday its my road, get off it. If you don't like the way i ride, stay the f&ck at home, but if you do have to travel make sure you have medical insurance just incase. If i drove, i guess i'd have a white van 😄

Agreed. Even the authors of books like "Men are from Mars, women are
from Venus" took pains to point out that these sex differences can
only be observed in general. They do not predict where an individual
will lie on the various scales of "male" and "female" abilities.

I think that the analysis is a very revealing insight, but one needs
to realise the limitations of the analysis.

I'd have thought that were obvious - all people are not the same.

Sniff, sniff. yes the unmistakeable odour of bovine bowel movements. Women have

IIRC correctly, that matches what I've read, but it doesn't necessarily
show a difference in driving style - more men have jobs that involve lots
of motorway driving, where accidents are rare but generally serious when
they do happen, more women are expected to do the school run and shopping
where low speed bumps with no injury are more common. Thus, even if women
on motorways drive just like men on motorways and women in supermarket car
parks drive just like men in supermarket car parks, it's possible that men
have more motorway type acidents and women more supermarket car park type
    accidents.
(On the other hand it's possible the men have the repmobiles in the first
place because of genuine differences in style, reflected in driving among
other things, once the argument has been sprinkled with "in general",
    "typically", "on average", etc.)

I never said there weren't. In my experience of driving, if someone's
crawling all over the back end of your car and it's a man, he's more often
than not trying to overtake you (not in the best place to attempt an
overtake BTW). If there's a woman doing the same, she'll much less often
    overtake you.

If you think that men and women behave in exactly the same way, in general
or behind the wheel of a car, you're either very blinkered or very stupid. I
don't especially want to have a nature / nurture debate, but the fact is the
sexes tend to behave slightly differently.

Women do have less accidents, or at least less expensive accidents, as you
can see from insurance premiums. They must drive differently to men, or the
insurance companies wouldn't care what sex the driver is.

I did say *different*. FWIW, my sister can park better than a lot of blokes,
but I've also seen tests where girls came out worse than boys for spatial
awareness - I think it was something on the reasons why girls do better at
GCSEs / A-levels than boys nowadays.

I thought that was more to do with teh fact that women that manage to
get to be pilots had better spatial awareness than the avearge man
that got to be a pilot. That is, to achieve success in a competitive
field traditionally dominated by men, a woman needs to be better than
the average man - the women with average-for-a-woman or even
average-for-a-pilot spacial awareness didn't get to be pilots.

Just to get my own prejudice aired - I believe that on average,
generally, typically, not in any spoecific case, etc, men have better
spacial awareness, and significantly better translation into spacial
awareness. Women have significantly better list processing. This is
why a man won't ask for directions (a list of directions is genuinely
more difficult for him to process) and a woman can't map-read (it
really is more difficult for her to relate map to outside world). On
average, in general, etc etc etc.
