May be there aren't very many good men in China. Read this article by a Chinese
woman who has lived in London over the past decade and the author of "The Good
    Women of China":

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/china/story/0,7369,1338808,00.html

    Seeds of change

I used to think there were no good Chinese men, until a brief encounter at
    Paddington station

    Xinran
    Friday October 29, 2004
    The Guardian

Since my book The Good Women of China was published, I've been asked many times
why I haven't written a book about the good men of China. I've always said I'm
not qualified; my excuse is that only a man could write such a book. But there
is another reason - one I never tell people, but which is always at the back of
my mind. My own experiences of China have left me with the feeling that there
just aren't that many good men, at least not by the standards of modern
    civilised society.

    Or poor.

To be fair, that's not fair.

Interactive relationships betwen people in the 'real world' involve a lot of
variables. Less so, online. And in fact, some of the loneliest people I've
met in life were women who were both beautifl and sensitive. If that
doesn't make sense to you, send me email and I will explain it to you as
    they have to me.

One of the beautiful things about an online relationship is that it can stay
"dry" and still have a measure of quality to it, even though it may lack the
human comfort of togetherness. But it beats nothing at all, or worse, a
"togetherness" where there is no love.

I doubt you are considered poor in China if you are able to afford internet
    access and a computer.

Peter's reply was obviously a joke in response to the OP's spamming.

For the record, I did not make the cruel comment about ugliness, Peter did.
Mine was about poverty and was not meant to be nasty.

Some people in China do try to contact people in the west in the hope that they
might find a way to immigrate. When in China last year, I met a family who
asked if I would take their small son back to the US with me. They were
serious, just wishing for a better life for him.

That's how I interpreted the original message but of course there are other
    interpretations too.

  13. Hey, fellow Low-Carbers!

Today I weighed in at 180, and that's thirty-seven pounds less than I did
earlier this year. I have a problem with the group because I might stay at
one weight for a few weeks or a month, and then suddenly drop punds over a
    week or two.

My message to everyone is, DON'T GET DISCOURAGED! You might not see results
in a week or a month, but they will happen. Everyone's body is different.
You will achieve control of your body if you give it some time.

I'm about fifteen pounds away from goal, and I lowered goal to fit what I
    want todayl

Jim, there seems to be no rhyme or reason how I lose weight, too. Over the
course of month, I'll stay the same (going week by week here), lose a few,
gain the "phantom pound" as I call it because it doesn't seem to corelate to
anything, lose more than a few, stay the same... It really makes it hard to
add carbs by 5 gram increments because I feel the weight gain I have isn't
due to increasing carb (I really haven't...I haven't gotten over 30 grams a
    day)

Agree. I'll go through days of discouragement, but it's so easy not to cave
in becasue I don't have the carb cravings.

not poor but not rich either. according to an article I read on The Economist a
while ago, some newly built homes in Beijing are selling in exceed of $1 million
each and that's not renmibi, it's US dollar! that's a LOT of computers!

Like others the elimination of cravings by just low carbing really
sustained me the first 4-5 months. It was effortless and really easy.
I'm in the 11th month and cravings have come back with higher carbs, I
have to push down the level of carbs again to gain control. You're
right that you can't let months of success be negated by a stall or a
    stabilization at a certain weight.

My greatest problem right now is chocolate. Getting my craving for
this under control is the biggest hurdle. It is a comfort food and it
is clear that certain stresses end with me overeating chocolate. I've
minimized the damage by sticking to low carb products, but the real
goal for me is to reduce the source stress, which may happen within
    the next two months.

Thankfully, I'm not gaining any weight, but its hard to see that I'm
losing it. I've estimated that I've got 7-8 lbs of water weight
(glucose storage). Going from moderate(maintenance) carbs to very low
carb levels I've lost as much as 7.5 lbs in 7 days. And I will bounce
around 7 lbs during the course of the month. I think I've lost 2-3
pounds last month but with 7 lbs of swing it easily is hidden. I have
continued to lose inches. My chest and hips are down 9 inches, while
my waist is down 10+. I've gone from a 52 pant to 42.

I will feel better when I start seeing 250/260s on the scale instead
of 260/270s. That's really the only way I know I'm am still making
progress. However I don't think I'll see that till end of year.
