  1. Is it possible to consume too much fiber in a day? If so, what amount would
be too much and what would be the likely result?

Lessee...a tree would definitely be too much fiber. A bale of hay fer
    shure. Result? You'd prolly explode.

  3. Lybbe, I'm piggy-backing on your post since I didn't see the original.
    :-)
The recommended minimum daily intake for fibre is 25g for women and 30g for
men. I haven't seen a recommended maximum daily intake number. I
fluctuate between 30g and 45g/day and haven't had any ill effects on those
days when it's the higher of those.
For the OP, is there a reason you're asking the question?

I managed to get down 166g of fiber yesterday. That seems like a lot to me,
but it did come with a lot of calories, too.

Really? Interesting. I didn't connect fiber and farting. I normally get
over 25g a day but haven't noticed such a tendency.

What did you eat to attain that number?

I average about 30g per day and can't conceive getting even close to 166g.

If you get too much I think you might know what the result is. There are
days when I eat way too much lettuce.

I have never seen any numbers on too much fiber. I would
expect that it is pretty much self limiting.

I have on occasion, in the past, over indulged in high fiber
    bran
cereal which caused gastric distress. :-)

Don't know if that is an indicator of what to expect from too
    much fiber or not.

Too much lettuce? That ain't possible, I think.

At one point I was up to three heaping tablespoons of Metamucil each
day plus all the usual salads and veggies. As long as you work your
way up to it gradually it's not a problem, you just make shorter trips
to the bathroom and use less toilet paper ;-)

I'd rather not say, but it was good (I didn't intend to eat so much - but
    [censored] happens).

That's basically how I felt about it and is sort of what prompted the
    question.
