I say Or because I'm lazy, although latin would probably be OW; Ohdax or
even oddax is the French pronunciation AFAIK, so take your pick, it really
doesn't matter.

Anyway today's ride was a late start which had Tim and I arrive as the main
field set off, so a quick grab of brevet cards and we joined simonb who was
on a mission to get round and be back home in time for the seasonal ritual
emollation of a man with a black hat and 'tache. Some very nice Cotswold
stone villages were passed before a very windswept false flat on the way to
Chipping Norton the 120k stop. After that hills were less frequent but the
wind had taken its toll and we grovelled up the last (fortunately fog bound
and dark) hill to get back at 1940, my slowest ever 200. Nice ride though
and a welcome addition to the end of the season. Oh and we saw the Upper
Thames (once) and lots and lots of fireworks.

I see you didn't opt for the A road at the end either (just that short
stretch of the A4070 was very nasty indeed). The distance between the
junction for Maharajah's Well and the BT box was wrong.

I got in at 1730 so just made it back in time to So'ton (my life wouldn't
have been worth living otherwise!). Really pushed it on the stage from
Chipping Norton to Didcot. The last section over the hill was a good
reminder to get some decent lights. The cateye jobbie with 5 LEDs just does
not cut it.

No punctures, but I did break a spoke through excessive honking/sprinting --
luckily that very morning I had decided to tape one to my chainstay!

yes by about 1km, did go back to check we hadn't missed it. BTW did you lose
a mitt? found one at the control on the path. we got back with 15 out of 72
still out but that was with two punctures. We also missed the RH turning to
Cholsey so had to go into Didcot and check a map in Tesco's. Godd thing we
did, Tim thought the info would be the Battle of Cholsey so we would have
failed had we missed Cholsey.

ditto the light; Tim's dynamo was essential on that bit, must get one before
PBP or even the Denmead 400 next year.
