Please recommend Velocity rim for rear wheel

I bet the spokes are straight gauge. Using an OC rim would reduce the tension bias from dishing, making a more stable and durable rim. Stick with 36 spokes but go to butted.

Go Aerohead OC 36 3X with DT Competition or Sapim Race + use Sapim Polyax nipples which help alignment at the rim. Tension balance it key to durability... as is stress relieving.

you _must_ _must_ _must_ build to the correct tension. if you exceed
that, you'll suffer exactly the problems you describe. istr peter
chisholm quoting the manufacturer's specs for velocity rims. call him.

Initially, I was suspect of the Velocity Aerohead rims. They looked
similar in design to Trek ISO C2 rims that constantly had spokes pull
through. I've had zero problems with the Aerohead rims, even before
the OC. I'm close your weight and use only 32 hole rims. I am not an
agressive racer but I certainly ride on bad roads.

I built a set of 36 hole wheels using Shimano Ultegra hubs and
Aerohead OC rims. The tandem team weighs 255 and the Ksyrium wheelset
kept falling apart. The tandem is a Calfee Dragonfly with 130
dropouts. Spokes are 2.0/1.8 DT. The roads they frequently ride on
have plenty of bad surfaces. Zero problems in an entire season,
~6,000 miles, and never needed a spoke wrench.

I think that you'll do fine with Aerohead OC, 36 holes, butted spokes,
and a careful built.

I would recommend a Fusion for you. heavier rim=stronger rim. The OC design
makes for a nice wheel but that rim is pretty light. If you want no problems,
use the Fusion.

As an aside, the Razor needs a MAXIMUM tension of 100kgf..it is prone to what
you are seeing with any more..the other Velocity rims, all the non eyeleted
ones are not like the Razor in this regard.
