  1. Last season through the winter I carried my waterproof jacket in a water
bottle that I had cut the bottom off. I put a slit in the bottom piece
I cut off so that once the jacket was inside I could put the bottom back
on and put it into my bottle cage.

The only problem I encounter with this idea is that there is wasted
space at the top of the bottle where the cap is, and the cut off bottom
    is not 'ideal'.

what I'm looking for is a plastic container with a screw on on tight
push on lid, the same size diameter as a water bottle and ideally the
same length as something like a 800cc bottle.

I thought I had found the ideal container earlier when going through my
cupboards...a wet wipe bottle...slightly too wide, bugger!

Ideally I would like something that hasn't got 'FAIRY LIQUID' or similar
written all over it, I have got a little pride :-)

Any suggestions, there most be something that will fit the bill?

    Thanks in advance.

Forgot to mention that I'm sure I saw something on Wiggle that was made
for the job, can't find it now though?

Take your washing up liquid bottle, some shiny wrapping paper and some
double-sided sticky tape and you can make a waterproof coat holder that
I'm sure any Dad would be happy to receive for Christmas and proud to
    put on his bike.

Have you got one you made earlier?

I got a container type device from Wilkinsons that may fit the bill. It is
like a plastic beaker with a screw lid, found in the plastic food box
section. I also got a holder and small bottle for a kids bike. The holder
snaps onto a frame tube and the bottle type beaker affair slips right in and
does not pop out. On my tourer I have enough space to put this behind the
seat tube in front of the top of the stays.

Does it have to be plastic?

I have a wide mouthed alloy bottle (big screw cap, smaller screw cap in
the middle of the big screw cap) which I got from the local camping shop.

It holds a litre, and gets used as a water bottle from time to time.

AFAIK the design is to allow you to carry liquids or solids as you wish.

So it should fit your requirement and also double as a useful container if
    you aren't carrying your waterproof.

The one I have is made in Germany by Markill (since 1866).

I was planning a trip to 'Wilkies' when I return to work on Monday.
Also have a millets there, I will check out the camping stuff too.
Guess a food flask may do the trick?

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

I have a Specialized Little Big Mouth water bottle (available from
Wiggle and others for about 4 GBP) which might well fit the bill. It's
an ordinary water bottle but with a virtually full width screw top to
allow for ice cubes. There is a sort of waist a little below the top
but it shouldn't matter for your needs.

Ooooh, that looks very handy, now I want one too!

Anyone else? Maybe we can get enough people to make it worthwhile
    ordering from the US?

Or, failing that, might it be worth emailing Chicken and Sons to let
them know a few of us are interested in this product? They might take
notice and look into adding it to their inventory.

I emailed the manufacturers, they are happy to ship a handful across
to us. They've asked for number required and shipping address and
they'll give us a quote. Think the intention is to send via regular
    USPS to keep costs down.

    Anyone interested?

They do ship overseas, so you could order one from them, but you may well have
stuff such as VAT to pay

He he, had a result! Went into Hal*ords on the way home from work..took
a look in their odds and sods box. 1 x Elite Pajaro thermal bottle...
£2. Wide neck, unscrewed the top and took out the quality thermal
lining (thin plastic cup and a bit of sponge!) and hey presto...just
what I was looking for! Colour matches my bike too!

    £9.99 from Wiggle too...bargain, thanks Hal*ords!

Oh well, only two of us. Doesn't seem worth the bother.
