  1. Is it possible for a vegetarian to be at the same fitness level on a bike as a person that eats meat? This comes from me being a person that doesn't eat any meat or poultry. I will eat fish at times but really don't want to. Is this ok for biking? If I have to I will give it up.

  3. Of course it's possible!

you can be healthier too not just equal. I am no veggie but I know you don't need as much protein as weight lifters do to be a cyclist. As for fish that is top notch protein! Low in bad fats and high in Omega 6 and 3 thought to keep you away from Alzeimers. If you can't hack fish then go for Omega 6 and 3 suppliments. That's for general health though.
You will need protein - even if you don't exersise - and as a veggie it's not so easy to get sufficient protein. Pulses and Lentils are you're best bet. You have to mix them as unlike meat that contain all/most amino acids to be classed as high quality protein pulses contain often unsifficient amino acids so, you need to mix them through the week with a broad range of veggie proteins so you get a mix of all 8 amino acids. The only exception of this is Soy beans which contain plenty of amino acids and artificial meat's like quorn that have all amino acids extracted from veg sources so you don't have to worry so much about mixing them. Egg whites are the biz, don't want to offend you if you vegan but if you're lacto then eggwhite are better than meat!- watch the cholestrol mind.

    Good luck
