Hi,
I could use some constuctive help on this. I'm 54 and not much of a runner,
but there is a 15K on 7 Nov that I'd like to do (I already payed my entrance
fee) without walking any of it. The problem is today is 30 Oct and I'm not
sure how to prepare for it at this point.
During the past year I've been running about 4-6 days a week and averaging
about 23 miles a week ( as low as 8 miles during one week, and as high as 40
miles on another week, by doing 3 miles during lunch and 3-4 miles after
work). Although earlier during the year I did a 5K in 23:23 ( I was in
better shape then now ), recently and during the last few months my longest
slow runs without stopping have been only 6-7 miles.
At this point, how can I best prepare for and perform during this 15K to at
least finish it without walking, and preferably without too embarassing a
time?
Thanks.

anyway. Do a slightly easier than usual training week, and do your best on the
day. Start at an easy pace and you will be able to finish the race.If you'd be satisfied with a similar time to your average pace on your longer
training runs, aim to do the 6 miles at that pace, and you should do fine
(possibly negative splits).Have a good race!
Cheers,
