My PR is in the 8.23 range, and that was on a motorcycle.

The best I have seen at our track is 8.05.

I think I could go sub 8, with new tires.

I also think I could go sub 8 taking a higher line,
but the "rule" is you have to do it like a rider would
do a flying 200.... holding the lane at 8 second pace is
a little tough!

When you hear someone describe how tough it is to do an 8 sec 200m on
a motorcycle due to the difficulty holding a line at that speed, it
really puts into perspective how impressive it is to see someone do a
legitimate world class 200m... Not only is there a huge power
requirement required to go that fast, you also have to deal with the
issue of holding a line. Putting it all together is very impressive.

Yes, and the bike tends to move around more than the motorcycle so holding
the line in the turn is not so easy. Going really fast around steep banking
is fun. Doing it on a 250m track with banking exceeding 43 degrees is
exceptionally fun.

So Scott, how fast could you go on a 250? (They are rated for something near
50mph for derny races) That would be a thrill!

A lot of that comes from your body being moving. When I am doing this,
the track is as empty as possible, I have full lean on... Conditions are
near perfect.

I have no idea. Derny races are not typically run in the sprinters lane
so I could probably hang, I know I have gone faster high on the track,
but we never timed that stuff... it violates our "rules" :-)

It is a total blast to just open up my bike on the track, but in all honesty
the thrill goes away pretty fast, it's so predictable...
