A little while back there was some chuntering around these parts about lacing your boots to help with this, that or the other. I've come across an interesting link that I found v. interesting:
Wow, I didn't realise tying bootlaces was so complicated!
One method not mentioned was tying the knot on the 2nd hook down. Bit difficult to explain, so get one of your boots out and put it on. I'm assuming here that you have three hooks above eyelets/holes. 1. Cross the laces, pull tight and hook over the lower hooks. 2. Cross the laces, pull tight and hook over the upper hooks. 3. Cross the laces, pull tight and hoop over the middle hooks. 4. Tie your favourite knot.
I find this gives a more comfortable fit on the walk in/on the flat. Move the knot to the top on the more vertical stuff.
I noticed that Message-ID: <[email hidden]> from Dave Mclaughlin contained the following:

My boots have been much more comfortable since I started tying them like that.
Must do wonders for the FAS too. :-) -- Geoff Berrow (put thecat out to email) It's only Usenet, no one dies. My opinions, not the committee's, mine. Simple RFDs http://www.ckdog.co.uk/rfdmaker/
