  1. I stumbled across this today, which is one of the better lay person's
discussion of hypothermia that I've seen. It's relevant to anybody that
runs in temperatures below their body temperature (vicinity of 98.6F).

A couple of the things that I've read in Armstrong's book on "Performing
in Extreme Environments" (he doesn't get extreme at all) that aren't
covered in here are the effects of age and sex, but literature seems to
    have conflicting and/or non-reproducible results (suggesting there's a
lot more variables involved than the studies accounted for, or as we
call it in biology, "random" variation 😉.

    I got there from here

which is a pretty decent discussion also.

FWIW, *I* (personal opinion) think "real feel" temperatures may be more
relevant than absolute temperatures for clothing determinations, but
they can be used in the above discussion. I've been paying particular
attention since March or so when some clothing works one time and not
the next, at the same or similar temperature. Real feel takes darkness,
solar radiation, dewpoint, wind, and probably some other things into
    account. Just my thoughts.
