  1. Robert, you've been blathering on about how everything is inferior in
foreign countries and everything is perfect in the US. I've got a
question for you. If you know so much about the world insode and
outside of your borders then answer me this one simple question.

Why is it that Americans are hated by so many people in so many
countries? I am serious. Tell me why? Why are they despised in the
Middle East? What did you guys do to [censored] them off so much? In Yemen,
in Saudi Arabia, in Lebanon, in Jordan? Why are they hated in Africa,
why did the people in Mogadishu turn on the US Rangers so viciously?
Why are Canadians generally somewhat anti-American? Why is Mexico so
anti-American? Central America? South America? Eastern Europe? The
Asian Countries? Most European countries? Russia?

Do you understand why Americans are universally dis-liked in virtually
every corner of the globe? Do you have any knowledge of the history
that has led to this? Do you have any inkling what has led to this
situation? Do you have any historical perspective at all about how
    this has come to be?

According to you American has created, invented, exported, pioneered,
researched, discovered, found, sold, manufactured, and is directly
responsible for everything good in this world, yet the US is intensely
disliked everywhere. Why is that? Do you know why?

you have answered your own question in the preceding paragraph: it's envy!
And I am not being facetious, I mean it seriously. A lot of hate and
resentment is fuelled by envy. America is rich, and the rich are always
percieved - rightly or wrongly - as arrongant. By the same token the fact
remains that America might be hated and despised, yet you can go to any of
the countries, continents or cities you mentioned in your post and you will
find long line-ups at U.S. embassies, full of people trying all they can to
get into the U.S. People vote with their feet and with their wallets. Their
mouths will parrot anti-American slogans, yet they will wear Levi's jeans,
baseball caps and will eat Burger King patties and will buy CD's by U.S.
artists and will generally try to ape that which they "despise". America is
a colossus of culture, military might, political and social trends, fashion
and more. Some of it is good, some is bad, some is fantastic, some is
terrible. But whatever it is - it cannot be ignored. All empires are
despised and admired at the same time: the same was true for Rome and
Britain, now it applies to America. Personally, I harbour no ill feelings
towards America (being a Canadian) and neither am I blind to its faults and
    problems.

I felt I had to reply to this thread but still maintain this is completely
out place in these newsgroups - sorry for cross-posting my reply

Where have I said that America has created, invented, sold everything? You
confuse my serious look at Canada and get defensive. You can't handle it.
It's OK for Canadians like you to bad mouth America but when the tables
turned all of a sudden it's Americans fault.
Here's what I said and have been saying from the beginning of time.
Canadians should watch over their own country first before bad mouthing
    others.

you have answered your own question in the preceding paragraph: it's envy!

I am an immigrant and not born in this country. Many immigrants have served
this country in time of war with distinction. Many of the poor have served
this country past and present. We have shed blood for this country. It is
not simply the wealth but wealth with opportunity for the little guy to make
something for himself. You can start with nothing and become a millionaire.

It would be off topic if posting only to sci.med.nutrition. Here's my

He never said any such thing; he was criticizing their

    politico-economic systems.

The same thing the Israelis did; they found ways to make
more of the environment than those who leave things to the
government and the priesthood are able to do.

    In Yemen,

Instead of insisting that those who can accomplish are
exploiting and would get nowhere without the exploitation,
learn how they are doing it, and adjust it to their

Why are they hated in Africa,

    Quoted message said:

As they would on anyone who tried to bring order and
civilization. You cannot just provide some people with
the opportunities to make self-rule work; they have to
have the willingness to do so, and not rely on others.

    Quoted message said:

Why are Canadians generally somewhat anti-American? Why is Mexico so
anti-American? Central America? South America? Eastern Europe? The
Asian Countries? Most European countries? Russia?

Because we have, and they do not. From its conception
to less than a century ago, the US was essentially
libertarian politically and economically, and built
itself up. This is very definitely in decline, and
I see the country essentially bankrupt now, by ignoring
what made it strong, and becoming a welfare state.

The same happened to Britain; its development was due to
a class of bright "adventurous" people not tied to the
"establishmemt", and opposing the establishment when the
new capitalists saw their rights attacked.

No, the US is quite willing to use what anyone else did in
all those areas. A strong culture does not say this is not
good because it is not invented here.

Where have I said that America has created, invented, sold everything?

Canadians should watch over their own country first before bad mouthing

You are getting way too political and it really doesn't interest me that
much. Every country has it's own national interests and it's no wonder that
there are competing interests so there are no winners. I am a health care
worker who has interest in health issues. Why, what and who you hate is up to
you. I would suggest some spiritual inner search to relieve some of that
    deep seated hate.

other half will critize the US for not acting and letting things happen.

You display your ignorance not only in your profession and matters of

Only arrogant ignorant fools(mostly americans) say ridiculous things
like "god bless America". God does not bless "america" or any

    biblical understanding.

Now why dont you take a look at what god actualy considers blessed:

"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God."

"Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God."

"Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied."

"It is more blessed to give than to receive."

Now lets see who is not considered blessed by god:

"But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your
    comfort."

"Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry."

"...the covetous will not inherit the kingdom of God"

"How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of
heaven. For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle
than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Now where would you place your precious "america". The choice is
obvious. The USA is one of the most ungodly nations on the planet
with all its greed, violence, arrogance, and corruption. Wealth and
power are the only things the people running this country worship as
do the majority of its citizens. that is very clear. It seems you

It is not that they hate freedom; they cannot understand

being able to put their trust in "the government". So they
cannot understand that it gives good results, especially

    princes are governments.

worker who has interest in health issues. Why, what and who you hate is up to
you. I would suggest some spiritual inner search to relieve some of that
    deep seated hate.

Then you do not know. Just as I thought.

Here we have a young American male. In his mid-twenties. He's had the
privilege of partaking in at least one democratic election. He has at
least some university education. He comes into this newsgroup with a
bush-like swagger and a Georgia redneck give-em-hell attitude. Good
for him. He doesn't hesitate to set us straight and tell us all about
what's what in international affairs and where the rest of the world
stands in relation to the US of A. Yee Haaaa!

But then we scratch the surface and what do we find? Three years ago,
on 9\11 the US is attacked by terrorists killing 3000 Americans. The
US of A attacks and invades two countries halway around the world,
spending Billions of dollars of taxpayers money and killing tens of
thousands of combatants including over 1000 american soldiers and
causing diplomatic rifts that will plague the country for generations.

And in this extended mailstrom of major political, military, policy,
and world order upheaval, this bright light of the new American
generation who will be voting for a president in a scant few months
has no clue why they are hated enough to be attacked in the first
place. He has no clue as to why anyone anywhere would look at the US
as anything but saints trying to better the world.

Any intelligent person would have asked themselves why did this
happen? What could we have possibly done that would have motivated a
group of people, from halfway around the world, to send 20 or more
individuals to the US to fly planes into our buildings and try to kill
as many of us as possible? There must be a history that led to this
tragic terrorist attack. It is of some importance that US citizens
understand what led to this and that they be aware of the grievances
that this terrorist attack came from?

Now, don't get me wrong. I, myself, cannot fathom anything that even
remotely comes close to justifying the 9\11 attack. But someone,
somewhere thinks that there is justification. If I was an American,
the first thing I would want to know is what the hell did we do to get
people this riled up that they are prepared to die to kill some of our
    citizens.

But not good 'ol boy Bubba Bobby Curlette. He doesn't care. He just
falls right into line and says "Give 'em hell, Dubya". In fact, it
seems that virtually no-one in the US has bothered to ask the 62
thousand dollar question. Why did these people do this? What events
led to this? How did we [censored] them off so much? And the American media
has done nothing to help educate the masses, either. It just doesn't
appear to be at all important to them to understand their past and
present role in this fiasco. As far as Americans are concerned, they
did absolutely nothing to these people ever, and they were attacked
for no reason other than possibly something patently silly like envy
or jealousy. Come on, get real. The collective naivete of the American
nation is astounding. They are all prepared to accept, without
question, that they did absolutely no wrong, ever. It does not even
cross their minds that they may have done something to [censored] anyone off
    to this extent.

Three years later and this guy, along with the other 300 million
americans, are as blind as bats when it comes to the actual cause of
the most important world historical-military event of the last 50
years, if not the millenium. He could not be bothered to educate
himself about it. And he comes into this newsgroup and tells us all
about how the international community feels about the US. Well Mr.
Curlette, you Georgia peach you, you are an ignorant little turd and I
would suggest that you do a bit more reading about international
affairs and the US's history in international affairs before you come
here and spout your ingnorant rants about other countries. Right now,
Americans need all the international friends they can find and your
anti-foreigner [censored] isn't doing anyone any good.

Your Bush-like American swagger may look cool but you may want to do
your best to not continue emulating Bush's complete stupidity and
ignorance in international affairs. It makes you look like the redneck
that you are. And that is what's gotten you people irretrievably mired
in Vietnam part 2 in Iraq.
