  1. I was on line in GNC and kept getting into conversations with people since
everyone there was LC - except the cashier who was a "personal trainer" and
told us that you don't get enough carbs on LC to support brain function (he
says you need at least 100 g a day) He looks like an ape on steroids and
could barely speak - it was funny!

Anyway - 1 woman lost 70 lbs since feb and was buying atkins bars. Then a
very slim fit looking lady was buying a big box of Atkins Bars and a big box
of Endulge bars. So I told her she looked so slim, did she lose weight on
LC? She said no, she just eats too much fruit and wants to be more LC - but
she won't "eat all the fat - ya know? just lean chicken and stuff"

I thought this was so nuts. A slim & fit looking woman who wants to replace
fruit with endulge bars and eat a psuedo-LC diet that she has totally
invented with no info! THAT's the sort of lunacy that makes LC look bad!!

Well, if you're not going to LC right, you'd better stay away from "all the
    fat".
I hope she's paying attention to the fat in the atkins bars.

um, not eating ONLY atkins bars ;o) but I eat them too and I have lost 30lbs
since July. The 70lbs loser had some screwed up LC ideas too. She said in
the summer you have to go "off" a little because everyone makes hot dogs and
hamburgers on the grill and they have buns. ??? ok lady! I did tell her that
you can eat them without the bun, but whatever works! She lost 70 lbs!!

I wouldn't suggest everyone should eat atkins bars but they satisfy my 3pm
craving and nothing elase really does - other times I have used them as
emergency food (like i keep one in my bag for on the run, or if i go to a
party) Maybe I'd lose faster without them - who knows. It's not an everyday
    thing.

Moron. I think there are alot of them out there.

My husband works with a lady who claims to be on Atkins. She eats an atkins
bar, morning start bar and an atkins shake every day when she gets to works.
Eats a pitiful boiled looking peice of chicken for lunch - THEN eats the

Is that a protien bar or a breakfast-type bar? I never had one.

This is the one I like best:

The Caramel Nut Crunch is also good. Neither one has that yucky chocolate
coating that most meal replacement bars have. You can occasionally find
them in stores but I always order them online, they are cheaper.

    🙂

She is really screwing herself up by halfway doing Atkins on a daily basis
or even less if she is not exercising a good bit.

  9. Well, the point I was trying to uncover is that one can indeed eat bars and
lose weight. Likewise, the lady who was eating bars instead of fruit could
also be able to maintain her weight - -the bars may be filling but can be
something less likely to be overeaten by her. They generally don't taste so
great, so that helps in comparison to fruit in terms of overeating.

So funny. I've seen similar. I think one of the problems is people
don't realize how cheating impacts a LC diet as compared to other
diets. I think it's far worse than cheating a little on a low calorie
diet. One you've had that cake, you're out of ketosis, cravings can
quickly return, and it can set you back at least a day, if not more.
With a low calorie approach, after eating the cake, if you just cut
back on the calories for the rest of the day to make up for it, you
should be no worse off. With LC, you can't eat negative carbs later
in the day. Ohhh wait, maybe I just got an idea for a new diet
    product. lol

Worst than that, since you've been eating a lot of fat while LCing, if you
then eat that big slice of cake along with ice cream, and you managed to
overboard on total calories, then that fat is be stuttled into your cells,
making you fatter. On high carb, those extra calories from carbs might get
worked off and burned, depending on what you do next, since it will take
longer for them to be converted to fat.

  13. Reminds me of a woman in Wal-Mart awhile back. She was stocking up on
every kind of LC candy there was. She told me that she was happy so many
of these are being made, because you can eat as many as you want on the
Atkins Diet without giving up anything else that is permitted. I said
    nothing. :-)

Well, she *IS* on Atkins. She eats everything with an Atkins logo on
    it, and more.

The next stage in her kind of Atkins diet is to buy stacks of Atkins
logos labels and stick them onto every piece of food just before she
eats them. This stage is called OWL = Onward With Labels. This one
simple little step will allow her to turn all food into Atkins food.
    Cool, eh?

He's right... IF you're a bodybuilder with low body fat. One thing
bodybuilders have to watch out for is not getting enough carbs. They keep
low body fat and all that muscle burns a LOT of calories, so if they run low
on blood sugar, the body will, as I understand it, actually break down
muscle tissue to convert into fuel. That would defeat all their hard work.

For people with an average amount (or more) of body fat, it's mostly fat
that will be converted into fuel. His advice would be valid for someone
like himself, but not for someone who wants to reduce an excess of body fat.

For people with an average amount (or more) of body fat, it's mostly fat
that will be converted into fuel. His advice would be valid for someone
like himself, but not for someone who wants to reduce an excess of body

    fat.

I agree. The thing is - he just knows what he knows, and it seems a good
number of his customers are idiots :oP~~~ I was going to ask him how many
fat people he has helped lose weight as a personal trainer? he doesn't know
about making fat people thin, he only knows about making thin people "buff"
    LOL!!

Anyway - 1 woman lost 70 lbs since feb and was buying atkins bars. Then a

I thought this was so nuts. A slim & fit looking woman who wants to

if she read your post, she might point out that she's slim and you're fat,
so who are you to criticize her eating?

    Just a thought.

You mock a slim person who is replacing junk with something more
nutritious and less damaging. Why do you do that?

There is no such thing as an LC diet per se. The expression "lc" covers
a style of dieting, not any specific diet. It ranges from Atkins
induction, through maintenance, as well as many legitimate and quite as
valid variations. You have, ketogenic as well as reduced carb
non-ketogenic diets. There is the Anabolic Diet, Bodyopus, Faigan's NHE
diet, various other TKG diets, South Beach, various cyclic diets; the
    varieties are almost endless.

Not following your particular perception of a low carb diet does not
mean that the person concerned is ignorant, or is likely to be less
successful, it simply means that one part of their diet includes
reducing carbs. I eat low carb, or perhaps better nomenclature would be
"reduced carb", but I think Atkins is a pointless and high risk diet. My
opinion and I have twenty plus years direct experience with diet and
nutrition to back it up; I am not concerned with who agrees or disagrees
    with me.

What I do works, when I had to, I lost a large amount of weight in a
short time, even though I was not fat to start with; not something that
I would recommend to everyone. Fast weight loss can be very dangerous. I
knew what I was doing, and did it properly.

Someone following new Harvard recommendations and reducing carbs in
their diet, adding some healthy fats, is actively looking after their
health. They are not dieting to lose weight, they are not overweight,
they are just health conscious and ensuring that they don't become fat.
    What is wrong with that?

Personally I suspect that the Atkin's bars are made from re-cycled
cardboard, but I applaud someone who makes the effort to replace junk
    snack food with something healthier.

I think that you need to realise that not everyone has to or needs to
view the world from where you're standing.

    Regards

    David
