  5. Works great! I drink a lot of seltzer water. It replaces diet soda for
me, including the caffine-free diet coke I love.
It gives me the fizz without all of the other contents. I've tried
seltzer water that has various flavors, but find that I would rather
    drink the plain seltzer water.

I started doing that a lot, too, this summer. I still have an occasional
Diet Rite, but most of the time I've been having humongous glasses of
seltzer over ice with a slice or two of lime or lemon. Very refreshing! I
also like Emergen-C Lite mixed with a lot of water, with ice as a refreshing
replacement for lemonade. You can sweeten it, but I kind of like it plain.

    I drink Tonic Water, sometimes.

    Keeps the malaria under control.

So far it has stopped me from getting the Nile Virus :-)

  8. I beg to differ about "no charge added for c02" .... here'e a copy of an
    email to [email hidden]'

Last night, I dined on a 24 ounce slab of prime rib, 2 orders of sauteed
mushrooms, an add on salad... and NO potato, NO garlic toast.... my friend
joined me, and had the napa pot roast and a pepsi.

Is there a reason why I was charged 1.79 for soda water? Why do you charge
for soda water while many other restaurants, such as Jerry's, Cheesecake
Factory, Canter's, Arnie Morton's and the Crest House do not?

Do you add a "special costly ingredient" that turns your 2 cents plain in to
a very expensive elixir rather than just plain old filtered water
    impregnated with co2?

My friends and I eat out daily. Please ask Pam and Marilyn - we used to show
up every few days... two, three, four of us. But, months ago we had a
situation where 2 of my friends had a horrible dinner, and even tho it was
substituted, it just seemed that it wasn't made right. I guess the "after
taste" of putrid roast beef made the substitute turkey less palatable. Brian
and James didn't finish their "substitutions" but were still charged full
    price.

Your restaurant seems to continually put profit and greed ahead of the
satisfaction of the customer... I doubt if we'll ever step foot inside
another one of your eateries... and even though the loss of our hundreds of
dollars a month won't cause your stock to plummet, be assured that we will
share our experiences with thousands of others on newsgroups, blogs, and
review sites. Ah yes, the Internet gives the little guy a place to vent....

You're going to need to qualify further. Coca Cola could be called
    flavored seltzer water.

    Check the ingredients.

Some brands of 'club soda' etc have ingredients other than carbonated
    water.

I wonder about a couple of things I've heard: that carbonated water is more
acidic than plain water, and that having an acid body pH is 'bad for
hypoglycemia' becasue it 'increases the activity of insulin.' If both those
things were true, then would seltzer help people with diabetic type
    problems keep their BG down?

Only if they're talking about quinine water. If they are just talking about
water with CO2 in it, that's not helping to prevent malaria.

No, because the water would be digested. Think of it: if there were any
truth to this, we'd have the Mayo clinic and everybody else touting the
    benefits of this "simple" treatment.

    Depends on why you're asking.

So let's look at your history. You were successfull but you
quit and gained it all back. Exactly why did you quit? hat
    beats everything else in importance.

Did you stay too strict and fall off suddenly? Then part of your
problem is being too strict. Treating only pure clean water as
water works great but it is very strict.

Did you gradually slide off the plan by giving in to various
small temptations one at a time? Then part of your problem is
the slippery slope of not being strict enough. It that's what
happened, if your motivation is to push the envolope as much as
possible then the sooner you cut it off the best. No, it does not
    count as water.

Did you regian for other reasons that have little to do with the
food, perhaps a time of extreme stress, or a pregnancy, or
whatever? Then if you treated it as water before and you did fine,
    do that again.

I favor using only pure water for my basic water quota of 2+
liters, and then drinking anything else *in addition* to that.
In my approach, I wouldn't count it as water but I'd be happy to
drink it after I hit my quota for the day.

  17. Losing 4.5 pounds in 3 months is successful?

I gained 1 pound from not watching carbs in 8 months, and I am a half a
pound away from my low. I've lost 1 pound in ~1 month and have not had
1 spec of white flour or any refined sugar. My main carbs come from
veggies. I exercise daily as well!! -- I don't consider myself
successful in weight loss, which is BTW why I quit the first time.

If you are losing at all and not gaining - then you are successful. Some
people lose faster than others. From what I've seen here - weight comes off
faster the heavier you area and as you lose the rate of lose tends to slow
down - mind you, this is only my opinion based on what I have watched here
in this group. Congrats on the 4.5 pounds you are no longer carrying. That
is a whole bag of sugar. Look at a 4 lb bag of sugar in the store - that's
how much you already lost . Success - I think so.

  19. I did faithfully the last time, but this time around I did for the first
2 weeks. I don't have enough time these days to input my food daily,
but I do have an average:

    1658 calories
    87 fat
    28 carbs
    145 protein

I guess somehow I need to lower my protein and raise the fat, but I'm
not exactly sure how to do that! This week I ate salmon twice for
dinner. I use mayo as a condiment. I have not cheated, not even once!
    AND I exercise!
